2022 Rose Parade for Univision

This year, Thunder Mobile Broadcasting returned with client Univision to broadcast the 133rd Rose Parade in Pasadena. Our team is no stranger to the internationally broadcast event, and Univision has trusted us to broadcast the parade on their behalf for the past 11 years. Our team has garnered national professional recognition including three Regional Emmy Awards.

The Tournament of Roses’ Rose Parade is an American tradition that has been held for over a century. The parade, which began as a celebration for Californian transplants enamored by the mild winter weather and year-round flower blooms, is a nationally televised event that marks the beginning of the New Year.

Thunder provided mobile broadcast units, a full technical crew including technical director, assistant director, graphics operator, video control operator, replay operator, audio technicians, camera operators, engineering services, lighting director, lighting assistants, and production assistants, security, generators, as well as grip and lighting rentals.

Beatriz Gomez, Director of Operations at Univision praised Thunder’s team for our work over the weekend:

I cant stressed enough how Proud I am to do this production every year with you all.   This year had a very special tone given that we did not have a Rose Parade Last year due to the Pandemic.

We made it !!!  …..  to the streets of Pasadena, Ca and took this Mega Event of “Americans New Year’s Celebration” to our Spanish Language audiences and Listeners;  after a rigorous credentialling Process, COVID testing, Rain during set up, and made it happened without some of our usual team members.

The Tournament of Roses this year gave us many challenges surely due to all that was going on with bringing back an Event of this caliber with all the Pandemic Restrictions.

Kudos to all the team that adjusted, pivoted and molded to take on more than we normally do.    Compared to the other Networks who have much more crew … We put on a great show !!!

There is no other way that I would rather start the year: Surrounded by Roses, Music , Entertainment and working along side a great team of hardworking and talented Professionals.”
